History Society Members Geneology Appeal PDF Print E-mail

ImageOur appeal for photographs has prompted one of our newest members to contact us about her family connections to the area.  The member is Mrs Judi Balavoine who resides with her family in France. She is a descendant of Nathaniel CRAIG and his son Charles CRAIG (1791 - 1875) who both lived in Auchencairn. Her great grandparents were William DUNLOP (1858 - 1919) and Marion CRAIG who built the house known as DUNCRAIG in Shore Road.  If you check out Hugh Patons History of Auchencairn you will find reference to Duncraig and it being built from the stone remains of the old mill that was located just north of Hassburn Cottage.  A further home connected to  the family and only a 100 yards from DUNCRAIG is CRAIGSHALL.                                                                                           Image
