AWARD FOR INITIATIVE PDF Print E-mail

Image
Ross Paton, Dorothy Anderson and David Dunstan.

Auchencairn Initiative has been awarded the Leader+, European Fund Award for 'Reinvigorating the local economy' against some pretty good opposition.
This was announced at an awards dinner and ceremony at the Easterbrook Hall on 15 November.
The dinner was attended by Ross Paton,  Dorothy Anderson, David Dunstan and George Brockbank on behalf of the Initiative.
The award consists of a large engraved glass bowl which we will put in the new shop and Post Office. Winning does mean that the Initiative is in a strong position for the next round of European funding if we have a suitable project.

Alex Fergusson was spotted by two members of Auchencairn Coffee Club in Barry Smart Newsagent, Castle Douglas buying a copy of the Club’s recently published recipe book ‘What’s cooking in Auchencairn?’ – yes he handed over his £2.50.
Mr Fergusson said that he was impressed by the book’s presentation and content adding that such enterprise by small communities must be praised and supported. He gladly posed for a photograph with shop owner Barry Smart but unfortunately the only camera available, a mobile phone wasn’t really up to the job. For further details about the recipe book check this link.
